Giotto Pass: the view of the dome, not from it

Officially twenty euros, no Brunelleschi climb. Giotto Pass is the smart plan B when dome slots show grey zeros, and plan A if you want to photograph the dome rather than stand on it.

The Giotto Pass is the ticket for people who already understand the geometry: an 85-metre Gothic tower — Giotto, then Pisano, then Talenti — and the dome a stone’s throw away. It is not a discount Brunelleschi. It is a different product.

Ticket comparison

Brunelleschi if you climb the dome. Giotto if the dome is gone or you refuse the double-shell corridor. Ghiberti if you stay on the ground.

Timing is everything

First slot 8:15: long shadows on De Fabris’s façade. Skip summer noon: the marble cooks. Maintenance closure 9–13 November 2026.

The insider entry

Tower door on the cathedral side. Do not join the nave queue.

How to save

If you already hold Brunelleschi, the tower is included. Do not buy this too. 72 hours, one entry.

How to get there

The tower sits on the south-east of the façade.

FAQ

Yes — that is the point. From Brunelleschi’s lantern you see Florence, not the cathedral itself.
Opera warns: major works, terrace open, views sometimes reduced.
